short + sweet dance

So, Sana and I decided to do something different last night. We sometimes try new places/activities together and when I heard that Feera was performing for a dance festival (she’s really good!), we welcomed that for a change.

I don’t really follow the arts but this festival proved to be interesting. It had comedy, theatre, song and musicals on the other nights and tickets sold out pretty fast (Tickets are already gone for today!). The dances ranged from modern to contemporary to traditional and it’s pretty cool how many Malaysians have such talent to choreograph and perform beautiful 10-minute pieces.

Admittedly, one or two performances confused me (so artistic, I must have missed the train of thought!) but there were also some which struck a chord in my heart. I found one truly beautiful despite it’s simple meaning and would gladly watch it over and over again (acting like those people are tireless hamsters and have so much time…). It really does take an artist to be a good dancer as you need to give a lot of yourself into the performance for it to come alive. It also takes a lot of work and dedication as some of the best dancers have invested years into their craft.

And it just made me think of how sometimes people want to go for such performances but fear they are too expensive. While that does happen with well-publicized musicals or depending on the venue, this one only cost RM33! I tried checking out the KLPAC website (www.klpac.org) and there are other performances well affordable, so why not keep a look out and grab a ticket for something different one night?
